About the Opportunity

Ditidaht First Nation is looking for a full-time Stewardship Technician, Land Resource based in Nitinaht, BC

Reporting to the Natural Resource Director, you will be primarily responsible for overseeing land-based stewardship initiatives, engaging with external partners, and managing stewardship projects to advance the environmental and cultural stewardship goals of Ditidaht First Nations.

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Aiding in the development and execution of land-based stewardship plans
  • Overseeing habitat restoration, wildlife monitoring, and invasive species management projects
  • Building relationships with government agencies, non-profits, and other stakeholders for collaborative efforts
  • Conducting research and data analysis to inform land management decisions
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant environmental laws and regulations
  • Supervising and mentoring stewardship staff and volunteers

About You

To qualify, you will need a Technical Diploma or higher in environmental science, natural resource management, biology, or a related field, with 1-3+ years of experience in land stewardship, conservation, or environmental management, preferably within an Indigenous community context, will also be essential. You will also need a valid Driver's License and a reliable vehicle.

Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:

  • Experience using GIS software and other relevant tools
  • Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and reporting
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Demonstrated project management ability to execute planning, organizing, and executing stewardship initiatives efficiently
